Strength, Support, And The Will To Live: A Heartfelt Conversation With Nepali Cancer Survivor Anusha Shrestha

November 3, 2025

When Anusha Shrestha first heard the words “You have cancer,” she didn’t just feel fear — she felt her entire world collapse in a single moment. She was 27. A creative, a daughter, a sister, and a dreamer. The future felt wide open, until suddenly it didn’t.But this is not a story about tragedy.
This is a story about courage, community, and the quiet power of human connection — something Anusha says played a bigger role in her recovery than medicine alone.

Life After Treatment:

“I Didn’t Go Back To My Old Life — I Created A New One”
Today, Anusha is cancer-free.
But she’s also changed — stronger, slower, more intentional.
She now volunteers part-time to support newly-diagnosed patients. She speaks at awareness events. She uplifts others the way someone once uplifted her.
“Cancer didn’t take my life. It reminded me to live it.”
She says the most important lesson she learned was this:
“Courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s choosing to keep living in spite of it.”

A Message To Anyone Fighting Cancer Right Now

Anusha asked us to share these words with anyone currently in treatment:
“You are not weak for being scared. You are not a burden. You are not alone. And you are not defined by your diagnosis.”
“Some days you’ll feel strong. Some days you’ll just survive. Both are victories.”
She also believes every patient deserves community, conversation, and compassion, not just chemotherapy.
Because in her words:
“Medicine healed my body. People healed my soul.”
